Insomnia Cures


These are not medical insomnia cures or treatments for clinical conditions, sleep apnea or insomnia. They are simply a few ideas to help you get to sleep. Most everyone has difficulty falling or staying asleep at some point in time, especially if you are under stress or worried about something, and these suggestions are made for those particular times.

Since sleep disorders and insomnia can be caused by a wide variety of conditions, the symptoms themselves are pretty much as numerous as the possible causes. Naturally for detailed information and qualified advice there are many different resources available to you and you should check them out.

There are conditions that you may have including being an alcoholic, committed an evil act that prevents you from sleeping well or being overweight and these suggestions may not help you at all. Obviously, you should not eat or drink anything that is suggested if you already know that it may cause an adverse reaction or that it does not agree with you. You should always have a thorough examination by a doctor prior to any treatment.


Some Useful Sleep Aids


Sometimes if you experience interrupted sleep it can be helpful to remove a clock from your room, or at least cover it with a cloth as an insomnia cure. You should also avoid arithmetic before bedtime, even mentally, as it keeps your brain thinking and prevents you from sleeping.

If your room is not completely dark or if you have to sleep during daylight then consider using a sleep mask to help it remain dark. This can also help keep you from checking out the clock in your room. It is also a good idea to make sure everyone in the family is aware of the sleep mask to avoid scaring them.

Apparently magnesium helps to relax muscles and some people claim that a calcium/magnesium tablet taken before bedtime, when used as insomnia cures, helps them sleep.

You may also want to consider homeopathic remedies as well, there are some over the counter ones such as Calms Forte by Highlands that they claim are safe for use by anyone, even children, without risk of side effects.

Constantly checking the clock and discussing sleep problems at length with others is an almost sure way to have it continue to be a problem. It is said that telling others you are unable to sleep is a way of reinforcing and actually developing insomnia, and definitely not a way to an insomnia cure.

The sooner that you realize that counting the hours of sleep or watching the clock can actually make insomnia worse, the better. So, get started on that part right away by telling people that you are now sleeping better and feeling more relaxed; that you are much more comfortable about going to bed, etc. This is actually part of the process that you will need to go through to hopefully bring about the results you want and need.
